Solo Travel - You're Not Alone

Solo Travel - You're Not Alone

10 August 2018

We recently received a heart-warming email and review on TripAdvisor from one of our customers, Mrs Hiscock, who had recently been on our Welsh Highland Railway Adventure tour. She had recently suffered a bereavement and decided she would take the plunge into a holiday on her own for the first time ever. It's a hard thing to do if you've been with your partner for a long time. It's a brave thing to do as you don't know what to expect when travelling alone.

Here is her review:

"I joined the coach party for Grand UK a short break trip to The Welsh Highland Railway Adventure. We stayed at the Beaufort Park Hotel in Mold Flintshire. Although a late booking as I needed a break away and Grand UK looked after my every need making sure that although this was my first solo trip away ever since the loss of my Husband the tour guide/Manager was on hand to assist if any problems arose which they did not! I had an amazing time with like minded people who also were a big part in ensuring I was one of the party and made me so very welcome, bless them all for that! The hotel was spotlessly clean and free wifi everywhere in the hotel. It was a very pleasant stay no problems at all with my room which was a nice generous size. We had included entertainment on two evenings which I absolutely loved and joined in willingly although it was ok to just sit back and enjoy if that was your preference! Very well done Grand UK keep doing what you are doing, you give people the break they may need at an affordable price all included, you are Brilliant and I will definitely be back!"

We were so pleased to hear how Mrs Hiscock enjoyed herself on the holiday and that she was well cared for throughout her time with us. These are the exact reasons this business was started over 35 years ago - to offer support, stress-free travel, organised excursions, luggage and travel are organised for you, so you can relax and enjoy yourself!

What's more, we've never charged a single bedded room supplement on a mainland UK holiday, and we don't plan on changing that ever!

In a recent interview with Silver Travel Advisor, our founder Paul Bennett, discussed setting up the business - read the full interview here.

So if you're looking to take the first steps to travelling on your own, you can rest assured that you are never alone on one of our holidays. You'll share a coach with like-minded people, have a Tour Manager to tell you tales from the places you visit and provide you with support throughout your travels, and you'll share new experiences with the friends you'll make on your wonderful holiday.

You may be a solo traveller, but you are never alone.
