Full Day: This morning we make our way to Durham where there is plenty of tijme to enjoy this ancient city with its Viking heritage and links with the monks of Lindisfarne. The Norman cathedral, set above the River Wear, and the medieval cobbled streets are all worth exploring, In the afternoon we reach the small seaside resort of Seaham, with a small harbour, sabdy beach and cliff top walks.
Full Day: This morning we make our way to Whitby, home of Captain Cook and notorious as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's spine chilling Dracula novel. We include a visit to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, charting his life and times in Whitby before free time to enjoy this attractive tourist centre. In the afternoon we follow the coast north past Staithes where Cook was a Crocer's apprentice before reaching his Old Schoolroom in pretty Great Ayton, today a museum to Cook's early life.
Full Day: Today we head for Richmond with its magjestic castle and attractive centre, before we continue into the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales to reach peaceful Wensleydale and the popular tourist centre of Hawes. Here we include a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery where the famous Wensleydale Cheese is produced.
