Your Itinerary:
THURSDAY: Starting with our Door to Door Service, we collect you from home and you are soon on your way to joining your tour coach and fellow travellers. Crossing the Channel we make our way to our first overnight stop in France.
FRIDAY: We continue our journey through France to the Lyon area and our second overnight. En-route we make a short visit to Dijon.
SATURDAY: A scenic day in store as we pass through the Southern Alps, towards Turin, before descending to the Italian Riveria and our hotel in San Bartolomeo al Mare for the next seven nights.
SUNDAY: A leisurely day to relax and explore your surroundings, soaking in the sunshine and sparkle of the Riviera.
MONDAY: A magical day today as we hug the coast around the Bay of Genoa and Santa Margherita Ligure. Known as the ‘Pearl of Tigullio’, this pretty town is located cosily in a small bay, protected by a headland. Wandering around you discover a town of palm trees, colour and a bustling harbour rich in pleasure crafts. It is from here that we board a local boat to cruise round the headland to the iconic resort of Portofino – much photographed for its sheer beauty as the colourful houses circle the famous Piazzetta and small boats bob on the crystal-clear waters.
TUESDAY: We cross into France and begin our day in dreamy Menton on the French Riviera, with its lemon gardens, sandy beach and tightly packed jumble of terracotta roofed buildings that overlook the sea. Meander through the labyrinth of narrow passages of its Old Town, admiring the medieval buildings and baroque cathedral. Afterwards we continue to Monaco – the glitzy principality known for its spectacularly wealthy harbour, lavish casino and famous grand prix circuit through the streets.
WEDNESDAY: A half day tour along the Italian Riviera coastline to Alassio, a chic resort with a maze of narrow alleyways adorned by flowers and boasting a gorgeous beach. Enjoy a stroll along the picturesque Carrugio – a typical Ligurian street that runs parallel to the coast, lined with patisseries, shops and bars.
THURSDAY: A further day at leisure today to enjoy the charm of San Bartolomeo al Mare. This lovely resort offers a relaxing atmosphere to discover its beautiful beach, pleasant promenade and attractive central square, the Piazza della Chiesa.
FRIDAY: Our final full day on the Riviera of Flowers takes us to San Remo, regarded as “Italy’s Monte Carlo” with a heady mix of extravagant villas, opulent harbour and ancient lanes leading through the medieval old town district of La Pigna. Our last stop is the twelfth century walled village of Finalborgo, accessed through the ancient gate of Porto Testa – a fitting way to conclude our stay on the Riviera.
SATURDAY: Sadly, we leave the Riviera behind this morning and return through the Alps and on to our overnight stop in the Dijon area.
SUNDAY: We continue north through France today before crossing the Channel and completing your holiday with our Door to Door Service to your home.
