Your Itinerary:
FRIDAY: Overnight hotel
Starting with our Door to Door Service, we collect you from home and you are soon on your way to joining your tour coach and fellow travellers. From here we head north to our overnight stop.
SATURDAY: Gretna Green & Glasgow
This morning we head across the border into Scotland to make a stop at Gretna Green, whose famous Blacksmiths Shop has been associated with romance, runaway couples and marriages for many many years. Continuing through the lowlands we come to our hotel in the Glasgow area.
SUNDAY: Thurso, Aviemore & Inverness
We journey north and pass through the Cairngorms National Park and the picturesque resort of Aviemore, before arriving in Inverness, known as the ‘capital’ of the Highlands, where we spend some time. This afternoon we join the North Coast 500 and cross the spectacular Moray Firth and head along the coastal road past Dunrobin Castle, Brora and Helmsdale to arrive in Britain’s most northerly town, Thurso, where we stay for two nights.
MONDAY: Castle of Mey & John O’Groats
To the top of Scotland today as we head first to the Castle of Mey, the treasured home of the Queen Mother, who acquired the estate and lovingly oversaw its restoration. Then to John O’Groats, the most northerly tip of mainland Britain before concluding our day at the Wolfburn Distillery to indulge a tasting experience of the local whisky.
TUESDAY: Sutherland & Caithness
Today we head along the North Coast 500's most popular section through Sutherland and Caithness. This region features tranquil lochs, rugged clifflines and immaculate beaches, largely unspoilt in this far-reaching area. We include lunch at the Smoo Cave Hotel en-route before we reach Ullapool and our hotel for the night.
WEDNESDAY: Loch Maree & Isle of Skye
Leaving Ullapool we travel into the magnificent Wester Ross region of Scotland’s Highlands, known for its dramatic scenery, rugged mountains and stunning coastal landscapes. Still on the North Coast 500 we travel along the banks of Loch Maree and through Glen Torridon on our way to the Isle of Skye where we stay for one night.
THURSDAY: Fort William, Glencoe & Loch Lomond
Leaving Skye, with its wealth of history, from feuding clans to Jacobite battles, we come to Fort William, set at the foot of the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis, where there will be time to explore. Moving south along the banks of Loch Linnhe, through the infamous, but spectacular Glencoe, known as the ‘Weeping Glen’, we cross the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor to reach the banks of Loch Lomond and head to our stop near Glasgow.
FRIDAY: Overnight hotel
We continue south, leaving Scotland behind, to reach our final stop.
SATURDAY: Return home
We return home, concluding your adventure with our return Door to Door service.
