Your Itinerary:
FULL DAY: Guided Tour of YorkA full day excursion to the historic city of York. This morning we include a guided walking tour of the city, as our local guide introduces you to the popular and surprising sights of the city as well as bringing its past history to life. Afterwards there is plenty of free time to explore this favourite tourist city, and with so much to see - the majestic Minster, the Shambles, the Jorvik Centre and the National Railway Museum are all worth considering.
FULL DAY: Guided Tour of LincolnThis morning to Lincoln, where the magnificent cathedral is the 3rd largest in Britain, perched on top of a hill and visible for miles around. In this oldest part of the city, the castle was built over the original Roman town whilst the newer shopping area lies at the foot of the aptly named Steep Hill. We include a guided tour of the city before enjoying some free time. Later we make a stop at Hemswell Antique Centre, with Europe's largest collection of dealers offering a fascinating range of treasures under one roof.
EXTENDED HALF DAY: Brodsworth GardensHeading into South Yorkshire we head to Brodsworth Hall and Gardens. Built in the 1860's, many of the ground floor rooms still recall its Victorian heyday with elegant chandeliers and marble statues. But it is also a glimpse of modern day country house living, remaining as a legacy of how its last owner left the house in 1988, against a backdrop of increasing maintenance battles and dwindling funds. Step outside and the lovely gardens have been restored over the past 30 years, including an 1864 'privy' toilet and picturesque summer house.
