FULL DAY: Lake District National Park, Bowness-on-Windermere and Coniston Water & Steam Yacht Gondola Cruise
This marvellous full day excursion heads off to the Lake District National Park and the Victorian lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere, where there is an opportunity to take a boat cruise on the lake. A visit to the gorgeous village of Hawkshead with its delightful cottages and cobbled streets is next before arriving at Coniston Water to board the Steam Yacht Gondola and our delightful cruise on the magnificent waters.
FULL DAY: Yorkshire Dales National Park and Skipton, Hawes & Kirkby Lonsdale
This morning we head for Skipton, ‘Gateway to the Dales’ with its immense history and iconic castle. From here we head deep into the national park passing Grassington and Kettlewell on our way to Wensleydale, made famous by the James Herriott stories and where we stop at Hawes. This pretty market town is a delight to explore and famous as being the home to the Wensleydale Cheese Company. We return via the beautiful Lune Valley and the historic and relatively unspoilt market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
FULL DAY: Oswaldtwistle Mills & Guided tour of the Pendle Witch Trail
A fascinating day today as we head for Oswaldtwistle Mill and meet our guide for our tour of the Pendle Witch Country. In the Pendle villages of Roughlee and Barley, you’ll learn of the sad tale of those who were accused, tried and found guilty of witchcraft in 1612 in what is now one of the most famous witch trials in English history. Admire the magnificent scenery, gaze at the moody hulk of Pendle Hill and see the ‘eye of God’ in the tower of St. Mary’s Church. This afternoon enjoy free time at Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village where there is retail therapy galore - or just enjoy the Wildlife Reserve and Mill grounds.
