Blogging is not only a computer savvy person’s game anymore, websites such as has made blogging highly accessible, no matter your ability or age, you can have a digital platform to share whatever it is that interests you at the click of a few buttons.

There are millions of bloggers out there who are having the time of their lives, sharing their muses, life lessons, beliefs and tips for different things like cooking, knitting, fashion, travel, photography – literally anything you can think of.

Thanks to the millions of you out there with a passion for writing, we thought we’d pick out some of our favourite blogs for the over 50s!

Tamara’s Spanish Blog

Tamara moved from Essex to Malaga in 2012, and has since updated with many ‘ramblings’, funny stories and tales of travel, growing older and maximising everything life throws at you. There is fantastic advice about plucking up the courage to move abroad and how to settle into a new community.

The Land of Lost Content

If you enjoy classical music from the nineteenth century, this is the blog for you. John France is compiling a whole catalogue of composers with detailed descriptions of songs, albums and the history behind them.

Lavender and Lovage

Originally from South Africa, Karen has travelled and lived in many places, so it’s only natural her blog discusses travel and her passion for food. You’ll find so many delicious looking recipes (the pictures will have you drooling) and wonderful tales from travelling, and sampling local delicacies, you’ll find yourself inspired to visit all of these destinations.

We've been fans of Silver Travel Advisor for a long while, all thanks to their fantastic website, which is filled with top tips, advice and guideance for over 50s. Not only do they have a useful blog, but you can get exclusive offers on lots of different things, like coach holidays, cruises and hotels.


Sally Dowling

Sally, who contributes to Silver Travel Advisor with interesting pieces of content, has her own fantastic blog, covering lifestyle and travel. It suits her down to a tee, having worked in the travel industry for 35 years. Sally has contributed to a variety of different websites, but over on her blog you'll find tales from her travels across the UK, Europe and beyond. 

If you're from Eastbourne, or interested in visiting, Sally often writes about the latest ongoings in the seaside town she resides in.
