Saturday: We head for the Channel crossing to Calais and on to our overnight stop.
Sunday: We cross the border into Austria and to our hotel for the next six nights.
Monday: A day at leisure to relax in your scenic surroundings at your own pace.
Tuesday: To the Inn Valley this morning and to Jenbach to board the original Achenseebahn Cog Railway, dating back to 1889. The train winds its way through the valley to the shores of Lake Achen, the largest Alpine lake in the Tyrol. This afternoon we visit Tratzberg Castle – a hidden gem of the Tyrol. Here the entertaining audio tour takes you through the castle with many
surprises along the way!
Wednesday: Today visit Innsbruck, the capital of the Tyrol surrounded by the high Alps and divided by the Inn River. The Old Town is magnificent with highlights such as the famous Golden Roof, the Maria Theresia Street, the Wilten Basilica and St James Cathedral. Our guided tour introduces you to the city before enjoying free time at leisure.
Thursday: A circular tour of the Kitzbühel Alps today. Lush Alpine meadows and forests give way to steep jagged rocks and snowy gullies to reach Ellmau, a village nestled beneath the peaks. We ride the Hartkaiserbahn Gondola to an altitude of nearly 5000ft to take in truly memorable 360 degree panoramic views stretching from the Wilder Kaiser in the north to the Roof of Austria and the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest peak, in the south! We return via the famous ski resort of Kitzbühel.
Friday: Today visit Rattenberg, the oldest and smallest town in the Tyrol, known today as the Tyrolean home of glass and crystal. We include a guided tour of the Kisslinger Glass Showroom to see the artisans at work before we continue to Mayrhofen in the Ziller Valley with free time to explore this fashionable resort.
Saturday: This morning we leave this Alpine heaven and head toward our overnight stop.
Sunday: To Calais for the return Channel crossing and home.
