Your itinerary
DAY 1: From selected local departure points we head for the Channel crossing to Calais, then across Belgium and into Holland to arrive in Amsterdam and the Prinses Christina for a late supper and our first night on board.
DAY 2: This afternoon we cruise across the Markemeer to the city of Hoorn, once a former trading base and major harbour for imported goods. Everywhere you go you will encounter the history of the powerful Dutch East India Company, that sent beautiful ships across the world to trade with the Asiatic countries during the 17th and 18th centuries. Shops and cafes dot its centre, which is anchored by the Roode Steen, the main square.
DAY 3: This morning we cruise to the harbour town of Enkhuizen with strong links to the old East India trade routes and characterised by its traditional houses and drawbridges over canals. From here we travel by coach to the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, where there is time to stroll around the park where amazing displays of spring flowers are exhibited in the extensive grounds and indoor pavilions.
DAY 4: We cruise back to Amsterdam where our coach will drop us in the city for some free time to explore. Enjoy this cosmopolitan city with its myriad of modern
and classical museums, miles and miles of canal network, the Diamond Quarter and the popular flower markets.
DAY 5: After breakfast we disembark and make our way back to Calais, crossing the Channel and homeward.
