Day 1: From selected local departure points we head for the Channel crossing to Calais. Then it’s into Germany and to Cologne to board the Esmeralda for a late supper.
Day 2: This morning we cruise towards Koblenz, before turning onto the River Moselle to Winningen. In the afternoon we enjoy a scenic coach excursion to Cochem with its colourful promenade and in the shadow of the landmark Reichsburg Castle.
Day 3: Cameras at the ready today as we enjoy a spectacular day cruising through the Rhine Gorge, passing Boppard - the ‘Pearl of the Rhine’ and the fabled Loreley Rock, to reach Rudesheim. Here you have time to enjoy the many wine taverns of the famous Drosselgasse.
Day 4: Cruising overnight and throughout the morning we explore the wonderful River Neckar to reach Heidelberg. It’s home to the oldest university in Germany and the old town, watched over by the magnificent castle, never fails to impress.
Day 5: This morning we head for Worms before continuing our cruise to Mainz, where the River Main and Rhine meet.
Day 6: Today we cruise along the River Main to Frankfurt, Germany’s financial centre which boasts a ‘Manhattan’ style skyline. Beyond this the city reveals an historic and elegant centre of cobbled alleys and timber-framed buildings.
Day 7: A full day cruising today as we return to the Rhine, back through the Rhine Gorge and on to Cologne for a final evening on board.
