Sunday: From selected departure points we cross the Channel and onto Cologne in time for a late dinner on board.
Monday: A morning in Cologne before we cruise past Bonn to reach the old Roman town of Andernach by dinner.
Tuesday: This morning our cruise continues through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, to reach the popular riverside resort of Rudesheim by early afternoon. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the town at leisure.
Wednesday: Cruising from early this morning we make a brief stop at Mainz where we include a full day excursion by coach to the old university city of Heidelberg, re-joining our cruise ship at Speyer.
Thursday: This morning we cruise to Rasstadt where the Rhine becomes the border between France and Germany. This afternoon we enjoy a tour by coach into the beautiful Black Forest, visiting the pretty town of Baden-Baden before following the Schwarzwald Hochstrasse (the Black Forest high road), one of Germany’s most scenic routes. We rejoin our cruise ship across the border in Strasbourg in time for dinner.
Friday: A full day excursion across the border today as we visit Freiburg, the 'capital' of the Black Forest before crossing the Rhine into France and to Colmar, a charming city of canals with a traditional old town, set in the heart of the Alsace region.
Saturday: An early departure for a full day cruising downstream to reach Mainz by early evening.
Sunday: Sadly, we disembark after breakfast to cross the Channel and return home.
Itinerary for July 20th
Sunday: Join in Mainz.
Monday: Mainz - Speyer (excursion to Heidelburg by coach).
Tuesday: Speyer - Strasbourg (excursion to Baden-Baden and Black Forest High Road).
Wednesday: Excursion to Freiburg and Colmar.
Thursday: Strasbourg - Rudesheim.
Friday: Morning in Rudesheim. Cruise to Koblenz.
Saturday: Koblenz to Cologne with afternoon at leisure.
Sunday: Return home.
The Prinses Christina
This tastefully furnished ship includes a forward lounge on the Promenade Deck, with a dance floor and bar area, and a separate restaurant on the Cabin Deck. There is a spacious open-air Sun Deck, which is partially covered. There are stair lifts between the Main and Promenade Decks, and between the Main Deck and the restaurant on the Cabin Deck. There are a total of 54 outward facing twin-bedded cabins on three decks, cabins vary in size and are located on the Promenade Deck, Main Deck and Cabin Deck. All cabins have recently been refurbished and have beds at floor level, shower & toilet, satellite television, in-house movies, continental electricity socket (220 volts). The ship is fully air-conditioned throughout. Price differences between the cabin grades reflect the deck/ location more than the size of the cabin. Upper deck cabins have better views, and are higher above the waterline.
