Donegal Coastlines & the Giant’s Causeway 2018

Inishowen Gateway Hotel

7 & 8 Days Half Board by Coach

Picture a green land of emerald-coloured hills and rugged coastlines, pretty little villages with colour-washed cottages, and an easy, timeless way of life... Welcome to Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Coastline! Stretching for over 1500 miles, Ireland’s coastline is alive with myths and legends, of soaring cliffs and rocky coves. And no trip to this wonderful neck of the woods is complete without a visit to the
amazing coastal rock formations known as the Giant’s Causeway, understandably Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction.

Itinerary

Sunday: From local departure points we travel to Scotland for our overnight stop.

Monday: We take the ferry to Belfast and onward across country to our hotel.

Tuesday: A day to relax and explore at leisure.

Wednesday: A memorable day as we explore the North West coastlines of Donegal, part of the scenic Wild Atlantic Way, a journey alongside tranquil inlets, remote beaches and rugged coastlines before skirting the spectacular white peak of Mount Errigal. We continue to the village of Kinclasslagh before returning through the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains.

Thursday: A fascinating full day excursion to County Antrim. We pass the dramatic clifftop Dunluce Castle to visit the unique Giant’s Causeway, said to have been the work of the legendary Celtic giant, Finn McCool. Learn about the Causeway – often referred to as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ – at the visitor centre. We also take time to visit Bushmills Irish Whiskey for a fascinating guided tour.

Friday: A half day visit to the fascinating city of Derry, where you can walk on the walls that enclose the city centre, stroll on the River Foyle quayside and explore the revitalised shopping area (8 days only).

Saturday: An early start today as we make our way back to Belfast for the crossing to
the Scottish mainland and onward to our overnight stop.

Sunday: Our Irish adventure draws to a close.

Please note: On seven day holidays the excursion to Derry is omitted. Return home on Saturday.
