Your Itinerary
Day 1: From local joining points we head for the Kent coast to cross the Channel and onward to reach our ship in Amsterdam in time for a late dinner on board the Esmeralda.
Day 2: Today we begin our cruise over breakfast, across the expansive waters of the IJsselmeer to reach the town of Hoorn. From here we head by coach to visit the floral spectacular of Keukenhof Gardens, famous across the world for its dazzling Springtime displays. We return to our ship in Enkhuizen in time for dinner.
Day 3: This morning we depart Enkhuizen, crossing back across the IJsselmeer to join the IJssel River, heading inland to reach the old Hanseatic city of Kampen. With centuries of history in commerce and shipping, today there are many historic monuments to explore and a replica of a medieval merchant ship.
Day 4: We continue cruising along the IJssel today to reach Deventer, where the old town is worth exploring including the great Church Square and gothic St. Lebuinus Church, or perhaps enjoy a riverside stroll passing many fine former merchant houses.
Day 5 This morning we travel by coach to visit Het Loo Palace, built in the 17th Century for William of Orange and Mary II of England. Three hundred years of Orange history is portrayed, along with Delftware treasures and valuable Royal collections. We re-join our ship in Zutphen for a final cruise to Arnhem, where the remainder of the day is free to explore this city, forever associated with the famous World War II battle.
Day 6: We disembark this morning after breakfast and head to Calais, crossing the Channel and returning homeward.
